Tanzania delegation engages U.S. experts in digital governance exchange

A high-level Tanzanian delegation has embarked on a strategic Digital Governance Exchange Visit to the United States, led by Tech & Media Convergency (TMC).

 The team, comprising officials from the Ministry of Finance and Planning and civil society leaders specializing in digital governance and policy innovation, aims to strengthen Tanzania’s capacity in digital transformation.

The exchange is part of the Tanzania Digital Collaboration Program, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam and the Bureau of African Affairs of the U.S. 

Department of State. Through engagements with key U.S. institutions and experts, the program seeks to equip Tanzanian stakeholders with global insights and practical solutions that can advance digital governance back home.

During their visit in Washington, D.C., the delegation is holding discussions with leading institutions, including the World Bank, Google, and digital policy specialists.

 The talks focus on international best practices, cybersecurity, data governance, and digital service delivery all critical areas for Tanzania as the country strengthens its digital landscape.

“The visit creates a rare and important opportunity for government and civil society to learn together from global leaders in digital governance,” said Asha D. Abinallah, Chief Executive of TMC. 

“We are committed to ensuring that Tanzania’s digital transformation is secure, inclusive, and aligned with international standards.”he added


The exchange is expected to enhance evidence-based digital policy development and improve collaboration between government and civil society. 

It will also generate actionable proposals for cybersecurity, data governance, and digital public services, while fostering partnerships with U.S. institutions to support Tanzania’s long-term digital goals.

This initiative underscores Tanzania’s growing commitment to multi-stakeholder collaboration, recognizing that strong partnerships between government, civil society, and global institutions are essential to building a resilient, inclusive digital economy.
