Rukwa Police urge residents to uphold peace and safety during festive season

By The Respondents Reporter

Rukwa Regional Police have praised residents for maintaining peace, harmony, and unity throughout 2025, acknowledging strong cooperation from the public, government officials, religious leaders, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders in safeguarding people and property across the region.

As the year-end celebrations approach, police have urged residents to strictly observe national laws, including traffic regulations, and avoid speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, or using drugs.

Parents and guardians have been reminded to supervise young people and guide their behavior during the festive period.

Authorities have also warned against engaging in activities that could endanger others or destroy property, such as street disturbances, arson, fireworks, or making explosives.

Anyone caught participating in such illegal acts will face swift legal action, police stressed.

To enhance public safety, the Rukwa Police have deployed officers at strategic points, including markets, places of worship, bus terminals, and major roads, aiming to ensure security and a smooth transition into the New Year 2026.

Police also encouraged residents to report any criminal activity or suspicious behavior promptly, allowing law enforcement to intervene in time.

SACP Shadrack Masija, Rukwa Regional Police Commander, emphasized that continued cooperation between the police and the public is vital for sustaining peace and promoting development in the region.

SACP Masija wished all residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2026.
