Tanzania has taken another step to rebuild international investor confidence after recent national uncertainties, with President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan assuring global partners that the country remains stable, peaceful, and ready for long-term investment.
During a meeting with The Rt. Hon. Lord Hugo Swire, Deputy Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), held at the State House in Dar es Salaam on December 2, 2025, President Samia emphasized that the government is strengthening the economy to protect citizens’ livelihoods and secure future opportunities.
The President said Tanzania’s decades-long commitment to creating an open and predictable business environment remains unchanged.
She noted that the government is prioritizing reforms aimed at ensuring investors are supported, protected, and encouraged to expand operations that generate employment for Tanzanians.
Her remarks come at a time when both citizens and investors have sought clarity following the events of October 29.
President Samia used the meeting to reaffirm that Tanzania continues to be a safe destination for domestic and international investment, stressing that stability is the foundation for delivering jobs, public services, and economic growth for the nation.
To reinforce this stability, President Samia announced that the government has initiated preliminary steps toward constitutional review.
She said the goal is to strengthen public institutions so they serve citizens more effectively and create a stronger environment for business development and national progress.
Lord Swire welcomed the government’s direction and said the Commonwealth business community sees Tanzania as a country with growing potential.
He reaffirmed CWEIC’s readiness to expand cooperation with Tanzania in sectors that can create new jobs and support inclusive growth.
CWEIC, which connects businesses and governments across 56 Commonwealth countries, aims to link Tanzania with strategic investors capable of supporting technology transfer, infrastructure development, and broader economic partnership.
Lord Swire also commended President Samia’s leadership in steering the country toward stability and reform, saying the Council stands prepared to work closely with both government and private sector players in Tanzania.
