Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba has vowed that the government will continue to uphold and build upon the contributions of the late Peramiho Member of Parliament, Jenista Mhagama, particularly her efforts to strengthen cooperation between the government and religious institutions.

Speaking on Monday, December 15, 2025, during the farewell service at Abasiah Catholic Church of St. Benedict in Peramiho, Dr. Nchemba described the late Jenista as a unifying figure whose work bridged different groups, including workers, the government, and the private sector. He praised her integrity, dedication, and the positive impact she had on countless lives.

“The late Jenista believed in achieving results, earning her the nickname ‘Kiraka’ because she excelled in every position she held. She touched the lives of many. I personally collaborated with her on leadership matters, and she was a close friend of my family,” said Dr. Nchemba.

He conveyed President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive, assuring Tanzanians, including the people of Ruvuma, that the government would continue to work with them as it did during Jenista’s lifetime.

“The late Jenista was a crucial link between the people of Ruvuma and Peramiho, as well as between the Church and the government. The President has tasked me to assure everyone that the government will continue to honor all her good deeds,” he added.

Dr. Nchemba also addressed the late MP’s children, urging them to remain steadfast in faith, uphold the values of love and unity their mother instilled, and know that they are not alone.

Speaker of Parliament Mussa Zungu expressed appreciation to government officials and religious leaders for their support and guidance since the passing of the late MP.

Earlier, Victor Mhagama, the late MP’s son, thanked the government for its continued support and appealed to the public to stand with the family during this difficult time.

The late Jenista Mhagama’s life and service are remembered for fostering unity, integrity, and collaboration across communities—a legacy the government has pledged to preserve.
