Dodoma’s new national stadium is officially underway, with construction now at 2.7% completion, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and Government Spokesperson, Mr. Gerson Msigwa, announced.
Speaking on December 12, 2025, during a working session with LIMONTA, the Italian company handling the project, Mr. Msigwa explained that the delay in starting was due to the relocation of the originally planned site.
He directed the contractor to increase machinery, workforce, and the participation of local experts to create more employment opportunities for youth, while equipping Tanzanians with skills and experience in major strategic projects.
“So far, 34 subcontractors are involved in the project, of which 27 are Tanzanians who have already started work, while the remaining are expected to join soon,” Mr. Msigwa said.
The Secretary-General stressed the importance of completing the stadium on schedule, highlighting that it will meet the standards of a national headquarters while adhering to international specifications.
Angelo Redolfi, LIMONTA’s representative, assured that the company would execute the project with dedication, transparency, and professionalism, following all government directives to ensure it meets the highest standards.
The stadium is expected to become a landmark for Dodoma, boosting sports development, creating jobs, and offering Tanzanians a world-class venue for major events.
