The Registrar of Sports Associations in Tanzania, Advocate Abel Ngilangwa, on Thursday officially launched the 2025 KOSHIEN National Baseball and Softball Tournament, bringing together key sports stakeholders from across the country.

The ceremony was graced by the Ambassador of Japan to Tanzania, His Excellency Yoichi Mikami, highlighting the enduring partnership between Tanzania and Japan in developing baseball and softball.

Speaking at the event, Advocate Ngilangwa praised the Government of Japan for its significant support in advancing these sports, particularly through youth training programs and capacity-building initiatives.

He emphasized that the KOSHIEN tournament has become a critical platform for discovering and nurturing young talent, while also promoting discipline, healthy competition, and overall youth development.

The 2025 edition of KOSHIEN is expected to feature teams from several regions across Tanzania and forms part of a broader strategy to elevate baseball and softball to higher national and international standards.

The initiative underlines the commitment of both Tanzania and its partners to foster sports excellence and inspire the next generation of athletes.
