Minister of Minerals, Anthony Peter Mavunde, has commended George Kaseza, the Regional Mining Officer (RMO) for Mirerani, for his outstanding service and commitment to fair and professional management of the region’s mining activities.

Minister Mavunde’s remarks came during his visit to Tanzanite mining sites in Mirerani, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, including the Tomarini Green Mining area in Lemshuku.

He praised RMO Kaseza for executing his duties diligently, without complaints or discrimination, earning respect from miners and other stakeholders alike.

“RMO Kaseza has consistently prepared detailed reports on the Mirerani mining zone. Today, we have brought you here so that your recommendations and observations can translate into tangible results for the community,” Minister Mavunde said.

Highlighting Kaseza’s experience and local knowledge, the minister described him as a leader who understands the unique challenges and opportunities of the Mirerani mining area.

He urged all stakeholders to support the officer in his role, emphasizing that cooperation would ensure effective service delivery and stronger governance of the mining sector.

“As the Swahili saying goes, ‘Raise the child you are given.’ RMO Kaseza was appointed to lead Mirerani because of his knowledge, experience, and proven leadership,” he added.

The minister’s praise was echoed by Elisha Nelson Mnyawi, chairman of the Manyara Regional Miners Association (MAREMA), who lauded Kaseza’s professionalism and responsiveness.

“RMO Kaseza is an attentive leader. Whenever miners face challenges, we bring them to his office, and he ensures they are addressed promptly and effectively,” Mnyawi said.

Rachel Njau, deputy chairperson of the National Women Miners Association (TAWOMA), also commended Kaseza’s collaborative approach, noting that issues affecting women miners, including those selling Tanzanite stones, were resolved quickly once brought to his attention.

The minister’s visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance in Tanzania’s Tanzanite mining sector, enhance stakeholder cooperation, and ensure that mining operations benefit both local communities and the broader economy.

Minister Mavunde concluded by encouraging miners, investors, and local leaders to continue working closely with RMO Kaseza to foster a transparent, inclusive, and productive mining environment in Mirerani.
