Tanzania Revenue Authority’s (TRA) new Integrated Domestic Revenue Administration System (IDRAS) is set to transform the way the Authority collects taxes and serves businesses and taxpayers across the country.

TRA Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, announced that the system, developed with support from internal TRA experts, will streamline revenue collection, save time for taxpayers, and strengthen the fight against tax evasion.

“Through IDRAS, TRA will access accurate information on all taxpayers, widen the tax base, and reduce incorrect or fraudulent tax claims,” said Mr. Mwenda.

“This system will also enable fair and transparent assessments, helping businesses operate smoothly while ensuring compliance.”he added

The Commissioner General emphasized that IDRAS is part of the government’s broader vision under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to make public institutions more connected, transparent, and accountable.

Once launched, IDRAS is expected to mark a major step forward in modernizing tax administration in Tanzania, supporting economic growth, and improving service delivery for citizens and businesses alike.

This system not only simplifies tax processes but also reinforces trust between TRA and taxpayers, ensuring that the country’s revenue collection is fair, efficient, and effective.
