Goncalves: We will correct the weaknesses before facing Coastal Union

By Flora Mkoloma

Young Africans (Yanga) Head Coach Petro Goncalves says the team will use the short turnaround period to address key weaknesses ahead of their crucial match against Coastal Union, set to be played tomorrow.

Goncalves made the remarks shortly after Yanga’s 2–0 win over Fountain Gate, a result that strengthened their momentum in the league.

He commended his players for executing the game plan well but admitted that the performance still revealed areas that need polishing.

“My aim is to keep improving the squad and make it stronger every game,” Goncalves said.

He explained that despite being pleased with the overall display, he identified specific tactical issues that must be fixed to ensure the team is fully ready for Sunday’s encounter.

“I’m happy with the level they showed, but there are things we must go back and correct. The team played well, but some aspects still need fine-tuning for us to be better,” he noted.

Goncalves also described the victory over Fountain Gate as a tough one, saying the intense heat made the match demanding for the players and slightly affected their rhythm.

With the Coastal Union test approaching quickly, the Yanga coach believes that addressing the highlighted shortcomings in training will give his side the sharpness and confidence needed to secure another positive result.
