Dr Mwigulu: Peace remains key to Tanzania’s development

By The Respondents Reporter

Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba has stressed that peace is the cornerstone of Tanzania’s development and urged citizens to protect it at all costs.

Speaking on December 18, 2025, in Kiwira, Mbeya Region, during a working visit to assess public infrastructure and private properties damaged in the October 29, 2025 violent incidents, Dr. Mwigulu called on Tanzanians to remain vigilant and united.

“Every Tanzanian has a role in safeguarding our peace. Peace is our most valuable asset and the foundation of all development,” he said, reminding citizens that social and economic progress depends on stability and harmony.

The Prime Minister warned against individuals and groups with malicious intentions, who may try to incite unrest and disrupt economic and social activities.

He highlighted that Tanzania’s abundant natural resources make the country a target for those seeking to exploit divisions for personal gain.

Dr. Mwigulu urged the people of Kiwira and all Tanzanians not to allow anyone to destroy the peace that has allowed the nation to grow and prosper over the years. “Our unity and peace are everything. Protect them,” he stressed.

This message comes as the government continues to rebuild affected areas and restore normalcy, emphasizing that national cohesion and vigilance are essential for sustainable development and the wellbeing of every citizen.
