Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO–RALG), in charge of Education, Reuben Kwagilwa, conducted a surprise visit to the Shangani Ward Office in Mtwara Mikindani Municipality, uncovering that some officials were absent during official working hours.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – RALG, Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, Kwagilwa urged all officials and technical staff under the Prime Minister’s Office – RALG to strictly follow public service regulations and maintain high standards of professionalism.
He highlighted that, according to Regulation F.1 of the 2009 Public Service Standing Orders, all public servants are required to report to work by 7:30 a.m. and remain on duty until 3:30 p.m., a measure designed to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery to citizens.
Hon. Kwagilwa further called on leaders at all levels to enforce workplace discipline, ensuring that staff execute their duties responsibly, professionally, and in line with public service ethics.
“This is not just about showing up to work; it is about delivering quality services to the people we serve,” he stressed.
