Deputy Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Reuben Kwagilwa, has launched a three-day inspection tour across Dar es Salaam, stressing accountability, efficiency, and timely completion of government-funded development projects.
Kwagilwa began the visit with a private meeting at Ilala Boma with Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila, reviewing ongoing and planned infrastructure, education, and health initiatives in the region.
In Ilala, the Deputy Minister visited the Kutunda Relini Multi-Storey Secondary School, a TZS 7 billion project.
While commending the initiative, he directed that the school be ready to receive students by January 2026, underlining the importance of delivering tangible benefits to citizens.
At the Kitunda–Kivule–Msongola road project, Kwagilwa expressed concern over slow progress despite TZS 4.7 billion already disbursed.
He ordered district authorities to summon the contractor for accountability, warning that the road must be completed by April 2026 with no extensions.
In Temeke, the Deputy Minister inspected the Mwembe Bamia Chamazi Primary and Multi-Storey Secondary School project.
While impressed with the school, he criticized the Wailes road project, which has only reached 36 percent completion of its TZS 21 billion budget. He reiterated that contractors failing to meet deadlines will be held responsible.
“Funds allocated by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for development projects must be managed professionally and with integrity. Delays or mismanagement will not be tolerated,” Hon. Kwagilwa said.
Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo assured the Deputy Minister that district officials are committed to working day and night to implement the President’s vision and ensure citizens benefit from government projects.
