Dar es Salaam Police strengthen security ahead of festive season

By The Respondents Reporter

The Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police, in collaboration with other security agencies and the public, continues to uphold its core duty of preventing crime across the city.

The overall security situation remains stable, allowing residents to carry on with their daily activities normally.

Between October and November 2025, the police achieved significant success in prosecuting criminal cases submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions’ office and subsequently to the courts.

Several suspects involved in violent crimes, particularly against women and children, were found guilty and sentenced to long-term imprisonment.

Convictions included cases of rape, armed robbery, and possession of government property, reflecting the police’s firm stance against criminal activity.

As the Christmas and New Year holidays approach, the Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police will intensify collaboration with the public and places of worship to prevent and address crime, ensuring safety before, during, and after religious gatherings.

Authorities urge parents and guardians to closely supervise their children during outings and gatherings, and advise that homes should not be left unattended.

Road safety enforcement is also underway, including surprise inspections and testing of drivers of public transport and private vehicles.

The police call on all road users to strictly adhere to traffic laws to prevent accidents. Furthermore, anyone engaging in illegal activities, such as unauthorized use of fireworks or firearms causing fear and public disturbance, will face immediate and strict legal action.

The Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police wishes residents safe preparations and peaceful celebrations during the festive season, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining law, order, and community safety throughout the city.
