Residents urge following legal procedures to preserve peace

Khalid Malecha, a resident of Kitonga, Dar es Salaam, has called on Tanzanian communities to uphold peace and adhere to legally sanctioned procedures for protests, following the violent incidents that occurred on October 29, 2025.

Malecha highlighted that thousands of citizens were directly affected by the unrest, emphasizing the importance of protecting Tanzania’s long-standing culture of peace.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, December 4, 2025, Malecha expressed disappointment with those who engaged in violence, noting that there were no valid reasons to justify such actions.

“We should value the peace we have in our country because there are many opportunities for us, especially young people, to pursue our goals and improve our lives. Our President has provided numerous pathways for growth and development,” Malecha said.

He also shared his expectations regarding the newly established Ministry of Youth Development.

Malecha expressed optimism that through this ministry, young people will gain greater awareness of economic and employment opportunities, helping them progress steadily in their personal and professional growth while contributing to the broader economy.

Malecha’s remarks underscore the critical role of dialogue, legal frameworks, and structured civic engagement in sustaining social stability and enabling youth to participate constructively in Tanzania’s economic development.
