Amana Bank pledges stronger partnership with TRA

By The Respondents Reporter

The Amana Bank has pledged to deepen its cooperation with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) in a move aimed at strengthening tax payment systems and promoting voluntary tax compliance.

The commitment was made on December 24, 2025, during a meeting between the TRA Commissioner General, Mr Yusuph Juma Mwenda, and the bank’s Managing Director, Mr Abubakar Athman Ali, held at TRA offices in Dar es Salaam.

The talks focused on enhancing collaboration between the two institutions, particularly on improving tax payment mechanisms through financial institutions and encouraging taxpayers to use banking services to meet their tax obligations voluntarily.

Mr Abubakar said Amana Bank is ready to work closely with TRA to ensure efficient and reliable services for taxpayers, noting that the bank will continue to invest in modern payment systems while supporting tax education for its customers.

He said stronger cooperation between banks and the tax authority is essential in simplifying tax payment processes and building public confidence in the system.

Commissioner General Mwenda welcomed the bank’s commitment, saying partnerships with financial institutions play a critical role in creating a conducive environment for tax compliance.

He noted that such cooperation contributes significantly to the growth of domestic revenue, which is vital for financing national development priorities.

The meeting underscores TRA’s ongoing efforts to engage key stakeholders in the financial sector as part of broader reforms to modernise tax administration and strengthen revenue mobilisation.
