ACT-Wazalendo moves to Zanzibar High Court seeking restoration of disputed election victories

By The Respondents Reporter

ACT-Wazalendo has taken its election dispute to the High Court of Zanzibar, seeking to overturn results in constituencies where the party claims its candidates were denied rightful victories in the 2025 General Election.

The petitions are set for first mention this morning at 9:00 a.m. at the High Court in Tunguu. Party officials say the decision to go to court reflects ACT-Wazalendo’s commitment to pursuing justice through lawful and transparent channels.

According to the party, the 2025 polls were overshadowed by irregularities and breaches of electoral procedures, particularly in areas where ACT-Wazalendo believes it secured wins but where final results were allegedly altered.

The party maintains that it will continue to rely on legal processes to ensure that its candidates—whom it says were deprived of their victories are given a fair hearing and that the integrity of the electoral process is upheld.
