Young Africans SC (Yanga) have arrived in Zanzibar to begin their final phase of preparations for their opening CAF Champions League group-stage match against Morocco’s AS FAR Rabat, set for November 22, 2025, at the New Amaan Complex.
The team left Dar es Salaam on the morning of November 18, 2025, with a partial squad, as several key players were unable to travel due to ongoing national team commitments.
The club confirmed that these players will join the camp in Zanzibar immediately after completing their international duties.
Those who did not board the flight include Prince Dube, Celestine Ecua and Lassine Kouma. Yanga officials say arrangements are already in place to facilitate their direct travel to Zanzibar so they can link up with the team without delay.
Players who had been featuring for the Tanzania national team have already rejoined the squad and travelled with the delegation.
They are expected to resume training right away as the team intensifies its preparations for the crucial continental fixture.
Head Coach Pedro Gonçalves expressed confidence that his full squad will assemble on time, stressing the importance of having complete tactical sessions before taking on AS FAR Rabat.
“We expect everyone to arrive shortly, and once we are all together, we will complete our final preparations,” he said, noting that having all players available will boost Yanga’s readiness as they open their group-stage campaign.
