Yanga is set to leave Dar es Salaam for Zanzibar on November 18, taking a squad of players, officials, and selected fans ahead of their first CAF Champions League match.
The Tanzanian giants will host Morocco’s AS FAR Rabat on November 22 at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar, aiming to secure maximum points in their campaign opener.
Speaking on the preparations, Yanga Media and Communications Officer Ally Kamwe said the team is on track, with a training match scheduled against KMC tomorrow in Dar es Salaam.
The session is designed by the technical bench to assess players’ readiness before the Zanzibar trip.
“This arrangement is specially designed for players not engaged with the national team. It will be a training match, not a friendly,” Kamwe emphasized.
Fans are already gearing up to support the team. Kelvin Mramba, representing Yanga supporters, said their campaign as the “12th player” has begun, aiming to create a strong and motivating atmosphere for the players.
“Our mission is to stand shoulder to shoulder with the team and help push them toward a crucial three points in this opening match,” Mramba said.
Supporter Tinna Mwakagele also called on fans in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar to turn out in large numbers and rally behind the team for a positive result.
Meanwhile, Yanga is expected to launch its Yanga Soccer School project in Dar es Salaam tomorrow, further reinforcing the club’s commitment to nurturing local talent.
