By Flora Mkoloma

Yanga SC has surged to the top of the NBC Premier League standings after a commanding 4-1 victory over KMC at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

With this win, Yanga now leads the league with 10 points, overtaking Simba, who have nine. Beyond the points, the match showcased Yanga’s attacking firepower, tactical discipline, and readiness to challenge for the 2025/2026.

The match began with Yanga dominating possession, keeping KMC under pressure. Maxi Nzengeli opened the scoring in the 35th minute, putting the visitors ahead.

KMC fought back, with Daruweshi Saliboko equalizing in the 42nd minute. The first half ended 1-1, setting up a tense second half.

Yanga regained control after the break. Pacome Zouzoua scored the second goal in the 62nd minute, followed by Andy Boyeli, who converted a penalty to make it 3-1.

Boyeli then added a fourth in stoppage time, sealing a convincing victory for the league leaders.

The NBC Premier League (Ligi Kuu Tanzania Bara) is Tanzania’s top-flight football competition, run by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB).

The league follows a double round-robin system, where each team plays the others twice – home and away. Wins earn three points, draws one, and losses none.

Teams finishing in the bottom two positions are relegated to the First Division League, while the top teams from that league take their place.

The third- and fourth-placed Premier League teams face playoffs against First Division contenders to retain their top-flight status.

Yanga’s performance today is a clear statement to their rivals: the club is ready to compete at the highest level this season, with determination and quality across the squad.
