The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, has expressed sympathy to taxpayers, TRA employees, and Tanzanians who were affected by disruptions that occurred during the October 29, 2025 General Election.
During his visit to Ilala and Kariakoo Tax Regions, Mr. Mwenda met with taxpayers and staff to reaffirm TRA’s commitment to maintaining high-quality services and addressing the challenges that arose.
He said the authority was moved by the difficulties experienced and is determined to continue providing reliable and taxpayer-centered services across the country.
“Taxpayers and their businesses are our top priority. Our duty is to ensure their safety and the continuity of their enterprises,” said Mr. Mwenda.
“We understand the challenges some faced during the election period, and we want to assure them that TRA remains close to them, ready to listen and assist within the scope of the law.”he added
He added that although some TRA offices and assets were affected, services have continued without interruption, and taxpayers in the affected areas have already been notified.
Mr. Mwenda also called on TRA employees to uphold professionalism, efficiency, and accountability in serving taxpayers, noting that their dedication is vital in strengthening trust between the authority and the business community.
“We must continue to serve with integrity and commitment to ensure that our taxpayers feel valued and supported,” he emphasized.
One of the taxpayers, Mr. Salim Virani from Kariakoo, commended TRA for its responsiveness, saying the authority has remained consistent in offering helpful services and guidance to businesses.
“TRA has continued to listen to us and provide the support we need to operate smoothly. That gives us confidence as businesspeople,” said Mr. Virani.
Mr. Mwenda’s visit is part of TRA’s ongoing efforts to enhance stakeholder engagement and rebuild confidence among taxpayers following recent national events.
