The Director of Kibaha Municipal Council, Dr. Rogers Shemwelekwa, accompanied by heads of divisions and various departments, conducted an official working tour of Picha ya Ndege Ward to inspect the progress of ongoing development projects in the area.
During the visit, Dr. Shemwelekwa inspected several key projects, including road construction works worth TZS 30 million funded by the council’s internal revenue, construction of business centers for low-income traders worth TZS 562.5 million, and the completion of a classroom at Lulanzi Primary School, valued at TZS 8 million.
He also reviewed the progress of other major projects, such as the construction of the District Hospital buildings (worth TZS 706.7 million, jointly funded by the central government and local revenue), the procurement of medical equipment (TZS 300 million from the central government), the construction of the Picha ya Ndege Ward Office (TZS 24.5 million from internal revenue), and a classroom at Mkuza Primary School (TZS 20 million).
Overall, Dr. Shemwelekwa inspected eight projects with a total value of TZS 1.6 billion, financed through both the council’s internal revenue and contributions from the central government.
Speaking after the inspection, he urged ward and street leaders to ensure that all projects are completed on time and meet the required standards so that residents can directly benefit from improved social services.
As part of his visit, Dr. Shemwelekwa held a public meeting aimed at listening to and addressing various challenges facing residents of Picha ya Ndege Ward.
He emphasized the importance of strong cooperation between citizens and the government in implementing community development projects.
The inspection forms part of an ongoing municipal plan to monitor development projects across seven wards within Kibaha Municipality, identify challenges, and accelerate the pace of community development.
Residents of Picha ya Ndege Ward commended Dr. Shemwelekwa for visiting their area, inspecting projects firsthand, and taking swift action to resolve the issues affecting them.
