Tanzanians, particularly the youth, have been urged to reject individuals who exploit unrest and violence for personal gain.
Mr. Juma Rashid Kazazi, a Dar es Salaam resident, spoke out following the unrest, looting, and destruction that erupted on October 29, 2025, after the country’s general elections.
He warned that while some benefit from chaos, ordinary citizens including young participants bear the consequences.
“Fellow Tanzanians, we must not allow our youth to become a source of income for a few people driven by their own interests. I urge the youth to pause, think carefully, and not fall for everything promoted to them. In these events, others profit while we continue to suffer hunger, injuries, and even death,” Mr. Kazazi said.
He added, “Those who benefit are often outside the country while we endure the pain here. If their intentions were genuine, they should join us in peaceful demonstrations rather than exploit us. I urge the youth to take this matter seriously, reject these people, and ignore their misleading messages.”
Mr. Kazazi, who said it was the first time he had witnessed such violence, also called on all Tanzanians to condemn these acts.
He stressed that unity is key to preserving peace in Tanzania, allowing citizens to pursue their economic and social activities without disruption.
