In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Mussa Azzan Zungu, met with the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saqr Bhogash, in Abu Dhabi on November 25, 2025.
The meeting, which also included Tanzania's Ambassador to the UAE, Lt. Gen. (Ret) Yacoub Hassan Mohamed, focused on enhancing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in parliamentary affairs.
During the talks, the two leaders agreed to establish a permanent committee to oversee and coordinate joint activities between the Tanzanian National Assembly and the UAE's Federal National Council.
The committee's mandate will include organizing exchange visits for parliamentarians and leaders, as well as facilitating capacity-building training and experience-sharing programs.
The meeting reflects Tanzania's commitment to strengthening its diplomatic and parliamentary ties with the UAE, a key partner in the country's economic and development agenda.
The UAE is a major investor in Tanzania, particularly in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and tourism.
Speaker Zungu's visit to the UAE is part of Tanzania's efforts to diversify its diplomatic and economic engagements, with a focus on strengthening relations with countries in the Middle East and beyond.
The establishment of the joint parliamentary committee is expected to provide a framework for closer cooperation and collaboration between the two countries, promoting mutual understanding and benefit.
