The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has taken a major step toward strengthening its commercial operations after inaugurating the Board of Directors for TANAPA Investment Limited (TIL), its investment subsidiary tasked with implementing cost-effective projects and generating revenue to support conservation.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Arusha on November 10, 2025, was officiated by the Chairperson of TANAPA’s Board of Trustees, Retired General George Marwa Waitara, who urged the new TIL board to champion professionalism, accountability, and innovation in managing the company’s investments.
“The Board of Trustees congratulates you on your appointment to lead this important company. TANAPA Investment Limited must operate with efficiency, transparency, and integrity to ensure every project delivers value to both the organization and the nation,” said Gen. Waitara.
He emphasized that the establishment of TIL is part of TANAPA’s strategy to diversify its sources of income and contribute to the national drive for sustainable economic growth.
“We expect TIL to bring innovative investment solutions that promote sustainable conservation while supporting the broader goals of Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050,” he added.
TANAPA Commissioner for Conservation, CPA Mussa Nasoro Kuji, commended the Sixth-Phase Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for its continued support in creating an enabling environment for investment, especially within the conservation and tourism sectors.
“The leadership of President Samia has opened up new opportunities for institutions like TANAPA to invest more strategically and sustainably. TIL is an example of how we can leverage innovation to strengthen conservation financing,” CPA Kuji said.
TIL Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Dr. Richard Matolo, assured that the company is ready to take on that challenge.
He said TIL has built strong technical capacity and is equipped with modern machinery to undertake construction and infrastructure projects of high quality and value.
“At TIL, we have a skilled team with extensive experience in construction and engineering, and our equipment meets international standards. We are committed to delivering excellence in every project we handle,” said Dr. Matolo.
TANAPA Investment Limited was established to execute projects within TANAPA at lower costs and to implement external commercial ventures as part of TANAPA’s income diversification agenda.
The move aims to ensure financial sustainability while supporting national priorities in conservation and development.
The launch of the new board signals TANAPA’s determination to position TIL as a competitive and innovative investment entity one that not only strengthens conservation financing but also contributes to Tanzania’s economic transformation.
