The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has continued its efforts to empower farmers through training sessions aimed at enhancing understanding of the bank’s services and products.
The program brought together 120 farmers from Songea Urban, Songea Rural, Namtumbo, and Madaba districts in Ruvuma Region.
The training was officially opened by Ruvuma Regional Commissioner Brig. Gen. Ahmed Abbas Ahmed, who urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to improve productivity, increase efficiency, and strengthen agribusiness performance.
Key topics covered during the sessions included TADB’s products and services, agribusiness formalization, the Smallholder Credit Guarantee Scheme (SCGS), the state of agriculture, livestock, and fisheries in Songea Urban District, and the strengthening of cooperative societies and AMCOS.
Participants included farmer groups such as Nakaheguo Group, Nalima AMCOs, Lumbingu Farmers, Juhudi Mpitimbi Farmers, Luganga Farmers, Ngoni Organized Farmers Group, and Umatengo Farmers Group.
Individual farmers from Mtyangimbole, Mbinga Muhalule, Litisha, Nakahuga, Matomondo, Msamala, Namtumbo, and Mshangano areas, as well as entrepreneurs under Ruvuma Mwalu, also attended.
Farmers expressed their appreciation to TADB for organizing the training, noting that it broadened their understanding of available financial services and how they can leverage them to expand their agribusiness ventures.
TADB officials who facilitated the training included Chief Research Officer Chisker Masaki, Senior Business Development Officer Ashura Akim, and Senior Customer Service Officer Faithful Zion Joshua.
