The 13th Parliament of Tanzania welcomed a new face today as Samira Khalfan Amour took the oath of office as a Special Seats Member of Parliament (MP) representing Kagera Region under the ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
The swearing-in ceremony, presided over by the Speaker of the National Assembly, took place in Dodoma and was witnessed by MPs, government officials, and party members.
Her appointment marks the beginning of a new political chapter both for her and for Kagera Region’s representation in Parliament.
Known for her commitment to community development and youth empowerment, Samira is among the new generation of women leaders emerging within CCM.
Party officials and residents of Kagera described her nomination as a sign of confidence in her leadership potential and dedication to public service.
Although she did not address the media after her oath, those close to her say she intends to focus on policies that uplift women and young people areas she has long been passionate about.
Her entry into Parliament also highlights Tanzania’s growing progress toward gender inclusivity in national leadership, as more women continue to take part in shaping the country’s political and development agenda.
Political analysts view her appointment as a positive step in strengthening the voice of women in Parliament and ensuring that every region especially those far from the economic hubs has a stronger advocate in national policymaking.
