President Samia calls on Tanzanians to embrace wisdom and peace over violence

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has called on Tanzanians to choose wisdom, unity, and peace over anger and violence, emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmony and respect for the rule of law.

Speaking shortly after being sworn in as President of the United Republic of Tanzania at the Parade Grounds in Dodoma on November 3, 2025, Dr. Samia appealed to citizens to reject actions that fuel unrest and instead focus on building a united and peaceful nation.

“We must all promote unity and love for our country. Let us safeguard peace and respect the laws of the land. Demonstrations, violence, and unrest only cause pain and bring no benefit to anyone,” she said. “I urge Tanzanians to choose wisdom over anger, understanding over emotion, love over hatred, patience over resentment, unity over division, and peace over conflict. We must also choose humility over pride and compassion over rage.”

President Samia stressed that Tanzania is one nation and that no one is above the country. She noted that the true measure of democracy lies not only in winning elections but in how a nation conducts itself afterward.

“The strength of our democracy will be seen not in the outcome of the election but in how we manage our affairs after it—by listening to every voice, respecting differing opinions, and healing the divisions that may have emerged,” she said.

The Head of State also extended her appreciation to religious leaders and faith-based organizations for their role in promoting peace and unity before, during, and after the October 29 General Election.

President Samia directed that all social and economic activities across the country resume as normal, assuring citizens that peace and stability have been fully restored.
