President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has reappointed Hemed Suleiman Abdulla as the Second Vice President of Zanzibar.
The announcement was made through a statement issued by the Office of the Revolutionary Council on Thursday. According to the statement, the appointment takes effect immediately, starting November 6, 2025.
Engineer Zena A. Said, Secretary to the Revolutionary Council and Chief Secretary, confirmed that Hon. Abdulla will take the oath of office on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 4:00 a.m. at the State House in Zanzibar.
Abdulla’s reappointment marks his continued service in the same position, where he has been a key figure in supporting President Mwinyi’s government, particularly in promoting good governance, economic reforms, and social development initiatives across the Isles.
The decision reflects President Mwinyi’s confidence in Abdulla’s leadership, experience, and commitment to advancing Zanzibar’s development goals.
Citizens are expected to follow the swearing-in ceremony, which will officially reaffirm Hon. Abdulla’s role in helping steer government programs aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening unity in the nation.
