PM Nchemba: peace and stability remain the cornerstone of Tanzania’s progress

Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba has reiterated that Tanzania’s development ambitions rely heavily on the preservation of peace and stability, stressing that the prosperity of every citizen is inseparable from the country’s calm and secure environment.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the inaugural Earth Sustainable Mobility Week in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Dr. Nchemba said national unity remains a crucial pillar for sustaining economic and social gains. This year’s event was held under the theme “Clean Energy and Innovation in Transportation.”

He appealed to Tanzanians especially the youth to continue upholding the country’s cherished tradition of peace.

“I urge all Tanzanians, particularly my fellow young people, to strengthen peace and maintain order in the way we handle national matters,” he said, warning that any disruption of harmony threatens the foundations of national progress.

Dr. Nchemba noted that several international delegates attending the forum praised Tanzania for its remarkable advances in modern infrastructure.

He highlighted the country’s achievement as Africa’s leader in the length of modern railway lines, and one of only five countries globally with an advanced standard-gauge rail network an accomplishment he said would not have been possible without long-standing stability.

He further stressed that sustained peace remains essential for the continued expansion of infrastructure and other strategic sectors, cautioning that incidents that disturb public order are attempts to reverse the country’s development trajectory.

“The milestones we are celebrating today could not have been reached without peace. Any actions that threaten this stability are, in essence, efforts to pull Tanzania backwards,” he said.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding sustainable transport systems anchored in clean energy and technological innovation, calling on all stakeholders to continue supporting efforts aimed at building a resilient, modern and prosperous nation.
