Opposition MPs endorse Dr. Mwigulu’s appointment as Tanzania’s Prime Minister

Dodoma, November 13, 2025 – Members of Parliament from minority parties have expressed support for the appointment of Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba as Tanzania’s new Prime Minister.

The MP for Tunduru North and Secretary-General of ACT-Wazalendo, Hon. Ado Shaibu Ado, said Dr. Mwigulu’s track record gives hope that he will efficiently manage national resources to benefit citizens and advance development.

Speaking in Parliament today, Thursday, November 13, 2025, Hon. Shaibu endorsed President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s nomination on behalf of opposition MPs. 

“We support the appointment of Dr. Mwigulu as Prime Minister for the next five years and hope he will ensure that national resources contribute meaningfully to the development of Tanzanians,” he said.

He also urged Dr. Mwigulu to oversee democratic reforms in the country, including the drafting of a new constitution, noting that political parties and the political sector fall under the Office of the Prime Minister.

According to a statement issued by the Secretary-General, Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka, Dr. Mwigulu will be officially sworn in as Prime Minister on Friday, November 14, 2025, at State House Chamwino in Dodoma at 10 a.m.
