The Executive Secretary of the National Sports Council (BMT), Neema Msitha, has been honoured for her role in driving the growth of cricket in Tanzania, particularly in empowering and expanding opportunities for women in the sport.
She received a special award from the Chief Executive Officer of NIDA Textiles, Hamza R. Pardesi, during the closing ceremony of the NIDA Textiles Cup at the Gymkhana grounds in Dar es Salaam.
The tournament featured Tanzania’s national women’s cricket team and the Canadian national women’s team.
The event was organised to promote sports diplomacy, strengthen international cooperation and raise the competitive standards of women’s cricket.
Sport stakeholders at the event acknowledged Msitha’s leadership in strengthening sports structures and supporting programmes that nurture talent at both grassroots and national levels.
They noted that her efforts have helped to increase visibility and participation of young girls in cricket.
Msitha expressed appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed BMT’s continued commitment to working with sports federations and development partners to advance the game.
The NIDA Textiles Cup also created a platform for players from both countries to share experience, build confidence and prepare for future international engagements.
