Several Members of Parliament have commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for appointing Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba as the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, describing the decision as a wise and strategic move that reflects her commitment to achieving Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050 with competence and efficiency.
Speaking outside Parliament shortly after Dr. Mwigulu was officially confirmed by lawmakers with 369 votes out of 371, the MPs expressed strong confidence that he will continue to drive the country’s development agenda and address the key challenges facing citizens.
The Member of Parliament for Singida West (CCM), Elibariki Kingu, said the appointment demonstrates the high level of trust President Samia has in Dr. Mwigulu, given his strong record of leadership and public service.
“President Samia has shown great wisdom by appointing a leader who understands both the government and the people. Dr. Mwigulu has proven to be hardworking, humble, and patriotic — qualities that are vital for advancing national progress,” said Kingu.
The Member of Parliament for Simanjiro (CCM), James Ole Millya, said he believes the new Prime Minister will prioritise addressing youth challenges, particularly unemployment, by promoting inclusive economic growth and creating opportunities for young people.
“Dr. Mwigulu is a leader who listens to and understands the aspirations of young people. We are confident he will continue to empower the youth to participate fully in national development,” said Ole Millya.
Other MPs noted that the appointment reaffirms President Samia’s commitment to strengthening accountability, efficiency, and sustainable development for all Tanzanians while promoting national unity and social welfare.
With near-unanimous approval from Parliament, Dr. Mwigulu’s appointment has drawn widespread optimism across the political spectrum, symbolising renewed trust and continuity in the government’s efforts to deliver on the country’s long-term development goals.
