Minister of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Dr. Dorothy Gwajima, has urged her ministry’s staff to work harder and faster to accelerate social and economic development across the country.

Dr. Gwajima spoke on November 18, 2025, upon arriving at the ministry’s offices after being sworn in to continue leading the ministry for the second term under the sixth-phase government.

She said the first term focused on establishing the ministry by setting up operational systems, accountability structures, policies, strategies, and program guidelines, while introducing the ministry to communities and development partners.

“The second term will focus on building partnerships with all stakeholders to educate communities about available economic opportunities and help them access these opportunities, as poverty remains a major driver of gender-based violence and challenges faced by special groups,” Dr. Gwajima said.

She added, “President Samia Suluhu Hassan has continued to trust me by reappointing me to lead this ministry. This trust is shared with all of you, as your cooperation has been crucial. I urge everyone to continue working with speed, commitment, and efficiency to achieve the government’s vision.”

Deputy Minister Maryprisca Mahundi thanked ministry staff for their warm welcome, pledged her full commitment to serve, and called for continued teamwork to realize the ministry’s objectives.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary Dr. John Jingu congratulated the leaders on their appointments by President Samia Suluhu Hassan and assured them of full support from the ministry’s management and staff.
