Mgosi sets high bar for Simba Queens: every match must bring three points

By Victoria Godfrey

Simba Queens head coach Mussa Mgosi has reaffirmed his ambition for the season, saying the team is determined to secure three points in every match as part of their mission to win the Tanzania Women’s Premier League title.

Simba Queens earned a convincing 3–0 win over Bunda Queens on November 19 at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam, a performance that strengthened their title push and reflected the team’s growing confidence.

Speaking after the match, Mgosi commended his players for their commitment and discipline, noting that consistency will decide this year’s championship race.

“I want to congratulate my players; they delivered a solid performance and I am pleased,” Mgosi said.

“Our goal is simple three points in every game. We achieved that today. Even with a win, you still spot mistakes, and we will work on correcting them.”he added

The coach added that despite the strong result, he had observed several areas that needed improvement to ensure the team remains competitive in the coming matches.

Meanwhile, Bunda Queens head coach Alley Ibrahim accepted the loss, saying his team was outmatched by a more experienced side.

“We lost to a big team in Tanzania, and their experience showed. We created a few chances but couldn’t turn them into goals,” Ibrahim said.

He noted that the increasing competitiveness of the league requires his players to intensify their efforts and stay well-prepared for upcoming fixtures.

Ibrahim also revealed that squad challenges contributed to their performance, including fatigue caused by a lack of substitutes.

Some players were absent due to sitting for Form Four examinations, while 11 others were unable to play because they did not have licenses.

“We are working to make sure such challenges do not hold us back. We remain confident that our next match will be better,” he added.
