Dr Samia swears in Tanzania’s 2025/30 cabinet, demands delivery and tangible results

By Our Reporter, Dodoma

President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Tuesday swore in members of the 2025/30 Cabinet at Chamwino State House, directing ministers and their deputies to prioritize measurable development outcomes over the prestige of holding public office.

Speaking after administering the oath of office, President Samia reminded the appointees that leadership is a responsibility entrusted by citizens and must be exercised with integrity, diligence, and urgency.

“Leadership is not a place of prestige; it is a responsibility we carry on behalf of the people,” she said. “You have accepted this duty, and I trust you will serve with commitment. Our five-year term is short compared to the needs of our people, so we must move quickly.”

Unrest Impacting Credit Standing

President Samia noted that recent incidents of instability in the country had dented Tanzania’s reputation and weakened its ability to secure external financing at the same levels as before.

She urged ministries to strengthen domestic capacity and accelerate implementation of government plans.

“The recent events of instability have reduced our credit standing and impacted how we access external funds,” she said. “Because of that, we must work harder from within. Development partners should find us already moving.”

First 100 Days: Visible Impact, Not Paperwork

The President tasked ministers with working closely with Permanent Secretaries to ensure that commitments set for the government’s first 100 days translate into tangible improvements at community level.

“I want impact for the people, not results that only stay in your office,” she said. “We promised many things to citizens, and time is limited. Every decision and every resource allocated must bring real transformation.”

A Relay of Leadership

Congratulating the new Cabinet, President Samia said the appointments reflect trust in their ability to support the government agenda.

She emphasised that national development is a continuous relay, where outgoing leaders pass responsibilities to ensure progress does not stall.

The newly sworn-in Cabinet will now move to execute priorities across sectors including social services, infrastructure development, investment, youth empowerment, economic reforms, regional administration, and governance.
