Azam FC will host Morocco’s Wydad AC tomorrow at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar in a highly anticipated second-round CAF Confederation Cup clash.
Playing in front of their home fans, Azam will be eager to bounce back after a 2–0 defeat to Maniema Union in their opening away game. Wydad, buoyed by a 3–0 win over Nairobi United, enter the match with confidence and momentum.
Azam head coach Florent Ibenge said his team is fully prepared and focused on claiming the vital three points.
“Our club has a proud history, and we face strong teams like Wydad with determination. It is exciting to test ourselves against players of this caliber. We are ready to fight for a positive result,” Ibenge said.
Wydad AC head coach Amine Benhachem emphasized that his side will not only chase victory but also stick to their style of play and team identity.
“We do not expect an easy match. Azam is a team that dominates possession and does not give the ball away easily. They play differently from what we usually see in African competitions,” Benhachem noted.
Despite the expected challenges, Benhachem said his team is confident in their approach.
“We have a clear strategy and a strong team identity, which we will rely on to succeed. That is our main focus,” he added.
He concluded by acknowledging Azam’s experience and quality, highlighting that tomorrow’s encounter promises to be a hard-fought, competitive match.
