The Minister for Industry and Trade, Ms. Kapinga, has praised the Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA) for its improved operational performance and its role in creating an enabling environment for starting and running businesses in Tanzania.
Speaking after an internal meeting with the agency, Kapinga said she was impressed by the progress made so far and the commitment shown by the institution.
“I have held internal discussions with BRELA, and I sincerely commend them. We spoke extensively about improving their operational efficiency so that the institution can fully achieve the goals outlined by Her Excellency,” she said.
Over the years, BRELA has evolved into a national gateway for business development within the industrial and trade sectors.
It stands out as a leading agency operating with more than 90 percent digital achievement, which positions it as a model for modern public service delivery.
In the past five years alone, the agency has contributed TSh 85 billion in dividends to the government, reflecting its growing financial performance and strengthening role in economic development.
Kapinga’s visit focused on reinforcing key targets, including innovation, efficiency, professionalism, work ethics, and integrity across the institution.
The BRELA’s Chief Executive Officer, Godfrey Nyaisa, expressed appreciation for the visit, noting the positive impact it has had on the agency and the entire industrial and trade sector.
“The visit has been highly motivating, especially in emphasising the need for continuous improvement and operational excellence,” he said.
He added that BRELA remains committed to implementing all directives issued by Minister Kapinga to ensure the government’s goals of delivering seamless services to citizens are met.
“Our operational systems are integrated with agencies such as TRA, NIDA, RITA, and others. This interconnection has reduced unnecessary bureaucracy, improved workflow, and significantly shortened business registration timelines,” he added.
