Kigoma Urban Parliamentary candidate, Brother Zitto Kabwe, yesterday rallied residents at the Mwanga Community Center, promising to continue delivering tangible development and real change for the people of Kigoma.
Addressing a large crowd, Kabwe highlighted the successes of ACT Wazalendo leaders in Kigoma Ujiji Municipality from 2015 to 2020.
Achievements included constructing tarmac roads, stormwater drainage channels, fish landing sites, improved bus stands, two new ports, and initiating the Katosho Dry Port.
He also noted the establishment of new schools, health centers, and market projects such as the Evening Market on Mzee Menge Street.
“These are proof that leadership focused on the people can deliver real change. We didn’t just promise; we made it happen,” Kabwe told the crowd.
Looking forward, Kabwe outlined an ambitious plan to transform Kigoma into a regional trade and transport hub.
Key initiatives include strengthening Kigoma Port, completing the Katabe-Bangwe shipyard, ensuring the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension reaches Kigoma on time, and upgrading fishing operations by reducing levies, supporting modern technologies, and promoting fish farming.
He also pledged to complete major market projects, including the Mwanga International Market and Kibirizi Market, create a one-billion-shilling fund to provide interest-free loans to small traders and bodaboda operators, and ensure bodaboda youth become owners of their vehicles.
Education and health are also at the center of Kabwe’s plan. He promised new high schools, technical schools, a Kigoma University, and the restoration of community health insurance to eliminate delivery costs for mothers.
“WE PROMISED, WE DELIVERED. Trust us to build our city,” Kabwe said, calling on residents to vote for him and ACT Wazalendo councilors in the 2025 elections.
He emphasized that leadership must be accountable, transparent, and courageous, ensuring Kigoma Urban thrives as an economic center.
The rally ended with Kabwe urging citizens to reject stagnation, embrace change, and support leadership that delivers results.
“Together, we will open doors of opportunity, defeat poverty, and make Kigoma Urban the envy of Tanzania,” he said.
