The country will be represented by fourteen special Olympics which is slated for October 2027 in Santiago ,Chile .
Special Olympics Tanzania(SOT)chief executive officer Charles Rays said the athletes who will represent the country will be identified next month at various events which SOT will organize.
He said he is confident that the athletes selected will do the country proud.
" We have received invitation for our athletes to compete at the Santiago Special Olympics slated for October 12 to 24 in 2027,we have more time to identify the athletes and prepare them,"he said .
SOT select its athletes for the National team through Subprograms (Regions )and at the previous World Championships which which was held in German, the country was represented by 22 athletes and the team managed to bring home more than 10 medals .
Meanwhile, Rays said SOT will not stage National Championships this year due to challenges which are beyond their control.
"We had plans to host the National Championships this year ,we did our best to organize the event ,but this year it will not take place ,this is to reasons beyond our control ,but hopefully next year we will host the championships, said the SOT boss .
