Tanzania Police guarantee safety ahead of October 29 general election

The Tanzania Police Force has reassured citizens and visitors that the country remains safe as Tanzanians prepare to cast their votes in the general election on October 29, 2025. 

On this day, voters will elect the President, Members of Parliament, and Local Government Councilors.

In a statement issued on October 26, 2025, the Police confirmed that the security situation nationwide is stable and that there is no credible threat to the electoral process. 

Authorities emphasized that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and smooth voting process.

“The Tanzania Police Force calls on all eligible voters to participate in the election confidently and without fear. We are fully committed to maintaining law and order across the country,” the statement said.

The Police also issued a clear warning that any attempts to disrupt the election or break the law will be dealt with swiftly, in accordance with Tanzanian legal provisions. 

Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement and observe all election regulations to help safeguard a credible voting process.

The statement was released by the Police Spokesperson at Police Headquarters in Dodoma, underlining the commitment of the force to a secure and peaceful election.
