Simba Sports Club have sealed Tanzania’s remarkable achievement of having four teams reach the group stages of continental competitions this season, following their qualification for the CAF Champions League on Sunday.

The Reds of Msimbazi booked their spot after a 0-0 draw against Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, advancing with a 3-0 aggregate victory from the two-legged tie.

The result means both of Tanzania’s representatives in the CAF Champions League Simba SC and Young Africans (Yanga SC) will feature in the group stage, alongside Azam FC and Singida Black Stars, who have already secured their places in the CAF Confederation Cup group phase.

The first half saw a balanced contest, with both sides creating scoring chances but failing to convert. Simba played with confidence, aware that their 3-0 advantage from the first leg gave them control of the tie.

In the second half, Nsingizini Hotspurs pushed forward in search of goals, but Simba’s solid defense and composed midfield display ensured there were no surprises. The Tanzanian giants managed the game efficiently, keeping possession and frustrating their opponents until the final whistle.

When the referee blew for full time, Simba’s players and fans celebrated another milestone a fourth consecutive season of reaching the CAF Champions League group stages.

This year’s success marks a historic moment for Tanzanian football, with all four of its representatives advancing to the group stages of CAF competitions a sign of the country’s growing strength, professionalism, and consistency in African football.
