The Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR) has called on all public servants working in government entities across the country to participate fully in the General Election scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

The office emphasized that the participation of public servants is crucial for strengthening the foundations of good governance, accountability, and national stability key pillars in Tanzania’s journey toward an upper middle-income economy estimated to reach $1 trillion by 2050.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, October 27, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, Acting Treasury Registrar, Ms Lightness Mauki, said that public servants have a unique role in ensuring the nation’s development vision is realized, as they are the primary implementers of government policies and programs.

“The participation of public servants in the General Election is more than exercising a constitutional right. It is a patriotic act that strengthens the foundations of good governance and demonstrates a genuine commitment to building a Tanzania with inclusive development and a robust economy,” Ms Mauki said.

She added that the government has established a clear development vision aimed at building a competitive and inclusive economy based on transparency, integrity, and citizen participation in national decision-making.

Thus, the involvement of public servants in the election is a direct contribution to ensuring the continuity of this vision, as leaders chosen through a free and fair process are the ones who implement development plans effectively.

According to Ms Mauki, voting is a civic duty that reinforces national unity, stability, and accountability.

It enables citizens including public servants to elect leaders with vision, integrity, and responsibility, who will oversee the efficient implementation of development programs.

Ms Mauki also highlighted that the Office of the Treasury Registrar, established under the Treasury Registrar Act (Mandates and Responsibilities), Chapter 370, is responsible for managing and developing government investments in public institutions, agencies, and companies in which the government holds shares or interests.

Through this mandate, the OTR continues to promote the welfare of human resources, accountability of leaders, and effective performance of public institutions as a key foundation for building a strong and sustainable economy.

“The active participation of public servants in the election demonstrates patriotism, national discipline, and an understanding of constitutional responsibilities,” she said.

She added: “This is the foundation of an effective public service that supports Tanzania’s journey toward a high middle-income economy by 2050,” Ms. Mauki emphasized.
