Ngorongoro, TANAPA expand push to attract European tourists

By Our Correspondent Reporter

In a bid to strengthen Tanzania’s position in the global tourism market, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) and the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) have joined forces to showcase the country’s natural attractions at a high-profile tourism roadshow in Spain.

The event, held in Barcelona on October 6 and organized by Tanzania-based tour operator Tanganyika Expeditions, brought together a wide network of tourism stakeholders including international travel agents, tour operators, and potential investors from across Europe.

Speaking during the event, representatives from both NCAA and TANAPA highlighted Tanzania’s unique and diverse tourist offerings from the iconic Ngorongoro Crater to world-renowned national parks such as Serengeti, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara.

“This roadshow offers a strategic platform for Tanzania to engage directly with the European travel market, provide accurate information, and build partnerships that will attract more visitors to our protected areas,” said one official.

Alongside NCAA and TANAPA, other Tanzanian tourism players also participated in the event, including Miracle Experience Tanzania, Auram Treks, Karafuu Beach Resort and Spa, and Malia Hotels International, showcasing a wide range of experiences from wildlife safaris to beach holidays.

The roadshow is scheduled to continue in other major Spanish cities, including Madrid and Seville, before concluding on October 8, 2025.

Spain is seen as a growing market with strong potential for outbound tourism to Africa, and Tanzania's presence in such forums is part of a broader strategy to diversify its source markets and boost international arrivals.

With tourism being one of Tanzania’s key economic drivers, initiatives like this are crucial in reinforcing the country’s brand as a top-tier destination for nature, culture, and adventure.
