Ngorongoro moves to digital era with new campsite allocation portal

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) has taken a major step in modernizing its services with the launch of the Makazi Online Portal (MoPO), a digital platform aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in campsite allocation.

Commissioner for Conservation, Mr. Abdul-Razak Badru, opened training sessions in Arusha for over 150 tourism investors, introducing them to the new system which replaces the long-standing practice of sending written requests for campsite allocations.

Mr. Badru said the digital portal represents NCAA’s commitment to improving customer service by leveraging technology.

“The system we have developed is crucial in today’s world for improving service delivery on the principles of transparency, fairness and efficiency,” he said.

“We believe every stakeholder will now receive timely services without favoritism.”he added

Experts in ICT and investment led practical sessions showing participants how to apply for campsite slots, monitor the status of their requests, and receive instant feedback.

Officials explained that MoPO is designed to serve as a long-term solution for campsite allocation, particularly in Ndutu, one of the most sought-after areas for investors and tourists.

They stressed that the digital system will not only simplify the application process but also enhance accountability in managing Ngorongoro’s tourism resources.

The portal’s launch underscores a broader shift in Tanzania’s tourism sector, where digital tools are increasingly being deployed to streamline services, reduce bureaucracy and strengthen investor confidence.
