The Regional Police Commander for Mbeya, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Benjamin Kuzaga, has assured residents that the region remains peaceful as police intensify patrols to reinforce security ahead of the October 29 General Election.
SACP Kuzaga on October 20 led a large-scale patrol that involved senior police officers, inspectors, and other units conducting vehicle, foot, and canine operations across different parts of the region.
He said the operation was part of the police’s broader efforts to ensure that Mbeya remains calm and secure during the election period.
“The situation across the region is peaceful. People are going about their daily activities in a calm and orderly manner,” he told reporters after the patrol.
Commander Kuzaga appealed to residents to turn out in large numbers and cast their votes on election day, assuring them that the police have put in place robust security measures to safeguard people and property.
“We have made adequate preparations to protect voters, ensure peace, and prevent any disruptions before, during, and after the elections,” he said.
The Mbeya police chief further reiterated the force’s commitment to maintaining law and order, emphasizing that collaboration between the police and the public remains key to ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
