Katavi Religious leaders urge unity ahead of 2025 general election

By Our Reporter, Katavi

Religious leaders in Katavi Region have held a special meeting to discuss peace and national cohesion, calling on citizens to continue safeguarding and promoting harmony, particularly as the country approaches the October 29, 2025, general election.

The leaders jointly emphasized that every Tanzanian has a role to protect the legacy of peace left by the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere.

They warned that elections should not be a source of division or conflict, noting that any disruption of peace can significantly hinder Tanzania’s development.

Sheikh Mashaka Nassor Kakulukulu, Chairman of the Interfaith Harmony Association and Peace Committee in Katavi, stressed that Tanzanians must unite and set aside religious, ethnic, and other differences to navigate the election period safely.

He reiterated that peace is the foundation of development, as no meaningful progress can occur without it.
