As Tanzania prepares for the General Election on October 29, 2025, Dr. Judith Mhina Spendi, Chairperson of the Women and Green Power Institute, has urged citizens to take an active role in protecting national peace and unity.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, Dr. Judith emphasized that the country’s development and the credibility of the electoral process depend on calm and responsible participation from all Tanzanians.
She announced a three-day peace forum scheduled from October 25 to 27 at the Posta Grounds in Kijitonyama.
The event will gather religious leaders, youth groups, business leaders, and representatives from civil society to promote dialogue, tolerance, and non-violence during the election period.
“Peace is the foundation of progress. Without it, development cannot be sustained, elections cannot be conducted freely, and national unity weakens,” Dr. Judith said. She called on citizens to become active ambassadors of harmony, encouraging everyone to reflect on their personal role in maintaining stability.
In a powerful closing, she posed a question to all Tanzanians: “I pledge peace, do you?”
