Dar bodaboda riders, street vendors promote peace, urge voting

Bodaboda riders and street vendors in Dar es Salaam have taken to the streets in neighborhoods including Posta, Kisutu, Kivukoni, Kariakoo, Karume, and Buguruni, encouraging residents to maintain peace and participate in the general elections on October 29.

Abdul Kimaro, a leader of Ilala bodaboda riders, told journalists that young people should resist being drawn into violence and instead exercise their democratic right to vote peacefully.

“The elections are a chance to shape our future. Let us vote responsibly and avoid any form of conflict,” he said.

Many bodaboda riders and street vendors welcomed the message, with some pledging to vote and commit to peaceful participation.

Other leaders of small businesses, including food vendors and bodaboda groups, joined the campaign, stressing that elections should be an opportunity for development rather than a source of unrest.
