Citizens urged to turn out in record numbers for October 29 election

By The Respondents Reporter

As Tanzania prepares for the General Election on October 29, 2025, citizens eligible to vote are being urged to participate in large numbers to elect leaders who can drive national development and uphold their constitutional and democratic responsibilities.

Community leaders, including Jumbe Ramadhani, have stressed the importance of respecting electoral laws and guidelines.

He noted that once voting concludes, citizens should return home and resume their daily activities, rather than responding to calls from some politicians to remain at polling stations a task strictly managed by political party agents and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Residents of Dar es Salaam, Richard Alphonce and Abdallah Ismail Haruna, described voting as a fundamental civic right.

They encouraged especially the youth to serve as ambassadors for the electoral process by motivating peers to vote.

“Voting is the key democratic mechanism to select the right leaders and hold those in power accountable, particularly those who have failed to deliver on promises and public expectations,” they said.

Election observers note that high voter turnout is critical for reinforcing the credibility of the process and strengthening democracy in Tanzania.

With the country heading to the polls, citizens are being reminded that every vote counts in shaping the nation’s future.
