The Ambassador of Tanzania to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Yacoub Hassan Mohamed, has officially welcomed the national football team, Taifa Stars, at the Consulate General offices in Dubai ahead of their international friendly match against Iran.

The Taifa Stars arrived in Dubai early, as part of their preparations for the friendly scheduled for tomorrow.

Speaking during the reception, Ambassador Yacoub called on the players to uphold discipline, teamwork, and determination, saying those values are key to achieving success on the pitch.

“I commend the team for the steady progress it has made in recent years. Every match is an opportunity to measure our growth and strengthen Tanzania’s position in the global football rankings,” he said.

The envoy also encouraged the team’s leadership to continue investing in talent development and take advantage of every international fixture to sharpen competitiveness.

Head Coach Hemed “Morocco” Seif expressed appreciation to the ambassador and the Tanzanian Government for their continued support of sports, particularly football.

“We are very grateful for the warm reception and excellent coordination by the embassy since our arrival. We have traveled to many countries, but the hospitality extended by the Tanzanian Embassy in the UAE is exceptional,” he said.

Coach Morocco noted that such cooperation boosts the players’ morale and makes them feel valued, adding that the team is in good shape both physically and mentally.

“Our players are ready and motivated. Tanzanians should expect an entertaining performance when we face Iran,” he said.

At the close of the visit, the Taifa Stars delegation presented Ambassador Yacoub with an official national team jersey as a token of appreciation for his support and hospitality.
